This project~ which I've shown before, was great fun to work on, since it was a whole house, newly constructed~ and I had a very simpatico client.  The table and console are custom pieces.  We chose a Fabricut print for the chair backs, which reminded us of the Cartier panther.

Later on, after a few seasons~ we decided to enclose a portion of the outdoor loggia, and make a new card room-breakfast room.  The builder, Glen Jenkins, did a great job~ and I had the ceiling coffers painted a deep bronze-coffee colour.  The chairs are from Hickory White Furniture.  Fabric on settee, Kravet.  The client found the sculpture in Venice, Italy.  Table is custom.  Enjoy!  DF *****

A Room With A View

This bedroom in Naples, in the Grey Oaks Country Club~ is one of my pet projects, and it has a beautiful view of the pool and the golf course.  We used a Henredon armoire to conceal the television~ and Audrey Jake of Renaissance did a fabulous job of executing a custom strie' wall finish.  Our client already owned the Chinese art~ which makes the room, truly a room with a view!  DF ***** (Find me at MP Interiors at the Miromar Design Center )

March Decorator Musings...

Jenny Garrigues for Red Cross Designer Show House 2014

We still love Scalamandre' - and any designer who helps to raise funds for worthy causes...this room setting by Jennifer Garrigues and associates shows a very "un-decorated" look.

This house is in Grey Oaks Country Club, Naples, where I seem to always have lots of work to do- one of the owners on this street moved to the south of France, and left her Rolls Royce behind.  The guest house (above) is not shown - which is off to the right.  Another lady in G.O.C.C. had a daughter, Heather, who once dated Prince Albert of Monaco.

  

I'm also consulting on a club house in Kensington Country Club, and thought how funny that my old Gucci loafers got caught in this shot.  The gentleman I'm working with there once represented Brioni, Pal Zileri, and Zegna (all super high-end mens clothing lines from Italy) in the U.S.

And finally, I couldn't resist posting about this fabulous vintage Chevy I came across yesterday.  I thought the color was spectacular, glistening away in the south Florida sunshine!  Enjoy! DF *****

Room of the Week, Avila at Grey Oaks

I did this living-dining room about 11 or 12 years ago, for a very nice couple from Potomac, Maryland. One of the smaller villas in the exclusive Naples community of Grey Oaks Country Club, it was a starting point for them, and they were rewarded with fantastic appreciation on their investment. I ended up working on about six of these Shafran built villas, and very much enjoyed it. The Shafrans came to Naples from Newport Beach, CA. I remember one of the first ones built, done as a model by Mrs. Shafran and her talented design team. The actor Tom Cruise's mother almost bought it! Then, as a funny aside, when I bought my first Mercedes, the salesman had just sold a Maybach to Tom Cruise himself! It seems that the Beverly Hills dealership had used up their quota, and so he ordered his car through the Naples dealer.

This client has been a long standing patron of mine, and she's always fun to work with and has a great sense of style. If you follow my blog, then you may know that her larger villa, which I also decorated, has been extensively featured. Over the years we've added on to the new one, and it gets better with the passing of time. The high ceilings and heavy mill work with better quality fenestration details give these villas a sense of a much larger home, and of course, feature all of the latest high tech features. I hope that you enjoy this post, my photography leaves something to be desired. DF *****

Grey Oaks Estate Section

This one has seven bedrooms

I always enjoy paying a visit to my wonderful clients in Grey Oaks, who live across from Mrs. Sproul, the founder of the luxury development and country club. Mrs. Sproul is a Collier, and in Naples that packs a lot of punch. (Naples is in Collier County, the largest in the state). My clients are a dream, and I've worked on six of their homes, two in Indiana, and four in Naples. Grey Oaks is the type of place where, your neighbor may tire of her view, so she sells and moves to Provence, Paradise Valley, or Napa, as some of my other G.O. clients have done.

House Beautiful featured a Grey Oaks house a few years ago. It's an interesting mix of accomplished people, and it has THREE golf courses! The late Mrs. Lutgert was living in the estuary section, and she belonged to another illustrious Naples family by way of marriage. I have some new clients in estuary, who keep places in New York, London, and Saint tropez...just for example. Here are two shots to give you a glimpse- I have to make some curtains for this palladian style window in the music room, as the old ones were water damaged. Enjoy the day, wherever you are! I adore this library I created in Grey Oaks for my dear clients from Potomac, MD. We are in the process of freshening the room, as Mrs Parish would have said. Speaking of Mrs Parish, The Enchanted Home recently featured my favorite Palm Beach decorator, Leta Austin Foster, who is the Sister Parish of today. We've been working away, getting this chic Isla Vista Villa ready for the upcoming Winter Season, here in Naples, where each winter over 135 charity balls and parties are held for various worthy causes. Here, you can see where our contractor, Glen Jenkins, has opened up the former covered lanai area and made it part of the house to be "under air" as we say here in South Florida. Enjoy the weekend, and let's all pray for our lost friends and fellow citizens, my client who owns this villa is flying back to Washington on Sunday, September 11th. I like to think she is helping to make a statement about our freedom, which is something she would do. Be well, and pray for peace! DF *****

I had the great pleasure of returning to prestigious Grey Oaks Country Club yesterday, to see my darling client, Lauren - we are going to push the living room wall out towards the pool, and make a kind of dining solarium for the breakfast table. I also will be rearranging some existing furnishings as well as incorporating some new furniture. Stay tuned for some progress shots!
