This 2014 biopic by Bertrand Bonello inspired me, and is a perfect treat for a loved one on St. Valentine's Day.  My good friend, Mary, had recorded it for me from STARZ, and I adored it!

Do check out this film, if you can, there was another one made, which I haven't seen yet, but I hear this one is more jazzy and interesting from the point of view of having a most attractive young French actor portray the fabulous, volatile, and mercurial YSL in the sixties and seventies.  Look for Lou Lou and Betty Catroux too!  So chic! I get a lot of interesting ladies coming in, and today I met Nancy, who was trailing this divine fragrance- "portrait of a lady" by Dominique Ropion for Frederic Malle ... I followed her out to ask her what she was wearing- and she was delighted to share her secret with me.  Enchantee' ! DF *****

Besides the old Rory Cameron villa, La Fiorentina, I've always admired the former house of Jayne Wrightsman, in PB, where this Brunschwig cotton print, called Menars ~ was used in a major way by Vincent Fourcade...

Exciting !  International interior designer, Timothy Corrigan, is coming to our Miromar Design Center!  He has collections for Schumacher, which we represent, including furniture, textiles, and rugs!  He also has a book, "An Invitation to Grand-Luce'" about his restoration of a Loire valley chateau, which he owns.  TC has offices in Los Angeles and Paris, stay tuned for dates and times!  DF *****

This project~ which I've shown before, was great fun to work on, since it was a whole house, newly constructed~ and I had a very simpatico client.  The table and console are custom pieces.  We chose a Fabricut print for the chair backs, which reminded us of the Cartier panther.

Later on, after a few seasons~ we decided to enclose a portion of the outdoor loggia, and make a new card room-breakfast room.  The builder, Glen Jenkins, did a great job~ and I had the ceiling coffers painted a deep bronze-coffee colour.  The chairs are from Hickory White Furniture.  Fabric on settee, Kravet.  The client found the sculpture in Venice, Italy.  Table is custom.  Enjoy!  DF *****

Michael Smith, Sister Parish, Daniel Romauldez...Mark Sikes and Hubert de Givenchy have all used this glorious "tree of life" toile, which has the most intricate level of detail, and a very fantasy feeling.

 For my own chambre I prefer the relative simplicity of the bed shown above- and have found something recently that I may want to use as a jumping off point- see below.

I was thinking I could perhaps change out the headboard to something from Bracquenie- or Fortuny- or the fabulous tiger velvet we all love.  I would then have some simple sheer linen curtains made for this bed.  I just am trying to locate the source for the bed! (anyone?)

  This chamber, which has been published many times, is a true inspiration- doesn't that bed look so inviting? I particularly have always liked to see a chair turned at a right angle to the bed itself- great for one's dressing gown, robe, or some more books and magazines- those sheets are probably by Porthault- aren't they delicious?

Dreaming of sleeping in a villa by the sea, or perhaps a chateau belonging to Givenchy- there seems to be a close relationship between our dreams (aspirations) and our inspirations...just hope I don't EXPIRE before I ASPIRE to INSPIRE !!! :)  Sweet dreams!  DF *****
