via Alexis Bittar
I get a lot of interesting ladies coming in, and today I met Nancy, who was trailing this divine fragrance- "portrait of a lady" by Dominique Ropion for Frederic Malle ... I followed her out to ask her what she was wearing- and she was delighted to share her secret with me.  Enchantee' ! DF *****

Agraria Bitter Orange
A complex and subtle blend that permeates the air with additive waves of clove, the zest of bitter orange and just a touch of cypress. Described by The New York Times as "uplifting, mysterious & androgynous in its appeal."

Fragrance Shopping

Today, I popped into Saks and treated myself to some new fragrance, I was in traffic and had followed a navy blue "baby Phantom" into the Waterside Shops. First stop, Jo Malone, where drop dead gorgeous Dana helped me with a Mediterranean Jasmine scented candle and guest soap by AGRARIA. She also kindly gave me some samples of the Jo Malone, which I can use for my upcoming Mother's Day gift basket. Then, I found out that Saks is now carrying Acqua di Parma, so Barbara helped me procure some Fico di Amalfi cologne and a free atomizer (another gift for Ma-Ma...) I was lucky last night, after attending a delicious dinner party chez Dickie and Troy, to catch a rarely seen film on TCM called "Rocco and His Brothers" by Luchino Visconti! It inspired me to find something Milanese, since the 1961 film was shot there (Milano). I also made a pit stop in the fine jewelry department to say hello to my old neighbor Scott, and eyed a nice stainless Cartier watch I wouldn't mind owning...anyway, I managed to get out of the store without visiting the men's department, and only doing a little over $200 in damage to the wallet (Gucci)! I spent the rest of the afternoon swimming in the Gulf, which was the color of an Hermes' cologne bottle. Enjoy! DF *****

Fragrance: Polo Black

Ahhh...the light, clean, slightly floral scent called POLO BLACK, is what I have been wearing lately...and speaking of fragrance and all things beautiful, did you know that Mr. Nacho Figueras is the official representative for Ralph Lauren fragrances? He looks like he would smell good, so more kudos to the RL team for selecting such a totally handsome model/athlete (he is a world class polo player from Argentina). On another personal fragrance note, I recently ordered some of the classic Acqua di Parma scented talc for our blazing upcoming Spring/Summer heat, and found out that it's on BACKORDER ! That can only mean one thing; it's very popular! I used to use the most divine scented talc from KIEHL'S, but alas, it has now been DISCONTINUED ! It seems that I have a knack for selecting things that are no longer available. Perhaps it is due to my pervasive nostalgia, for the fabulous 1970's, 80's, and 90's...anyway, check out these amazing images of handsome Nacho, a great way to start your day! Enjoy! DF *****

YSL Fragrance Pour Homme

Dean Farris Int. Design

I thought I'd show you this beautiful package design, for YSL men's fragrance, following yesterday's post about my friend Sashy and how he used to do all the hair for the late Yves Saint Laurent. Check out this YSL ad on the fragrance www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQYW4SjNKaU&feature=relmfu Billy and I had a blast at the Academy Awards party our friends Charles and Gene threw last night in Chuck's 18th century French style apartment here in Naples. The food was sublime, all variations of seafood mousselines, shaped in molds in classic french cuisine style! We started with a dry french champagne (is there any other kind?) and ended with exquisite mini cherry cheesecakes from Baby Watson. Today, Billy and I went to see "Iron Lady" with Meryl Streep, at the SilverSpot Cinema and enjoyed it very much. I have always been a huge fan of La Streep. ENJOY! DF *****

Fragrance For The Home

Fragrant rooms are like a kiss, and you feel special as if someone had prepared the very air just for you. I especially like Agraria, Nest, Votivo, Diptyque, Creed, and the classic Rigaud, which Diana Vreeland always had burning away. Yesterday, I visited a new home fashion boutique here in Naples, called SAINT-TROPEZ HOME, and fell in love with the chic of it, and did make a very small purchase of one small bunch of dried lavender. The divine fragrance reminded me of being in the office of the late Mrs. Henry Parish II, where I discovered an elegant small bowl of potpourri nestled in a beautiful linen cloth. I found this fabulous image of "Sister" on one of my favorite blogs, The Devoted Classicist. ENJOY! DF *****
