Great new book

July Issue AD

Venice

I greatly enjoyed the July 2015 issue of AD -(Architectural Digest) ~and read with interest the feature called "Design Insiders Guide to Venice" ~Brian McCarthy was quoted as considering the Ca Maria Adele as his home away from home, and I had been thinking about Brian lately, since he is coming out with a new book PARISH HADLEY TREE OF LIFE, with Bunny Williams. 
Isn't the gran canale like a beautiful tree of life growing through the center of Venice?  It's just these kind of associations that send me off on a long gondola ride through many fantasies of life in its richest incarnation!  My, how I do carry on!   
Also, I was thrilled to see Chris Spitzmiller featured in this July issue, his house is a beautiful tribute and homage to the late Albert Hadley, which he spent the last nine years working on along with Harry Heissmann.  As Bunny herself was quoted "Albert would have adored it"...
AND I did want to mention another new book "Columns by the Sea" by Richard Hampton Jenrette, which features his house in Charleston, SC, known as Roper House.  The book is only $20.00 and the monies fund his Classical Architecture program.  All part of the design world "Tree  of Life" !  DF *****

It was very interesting to read today on the NYSD, about John Rosselli and Bunny Williams receiving the NYSID Albert Hadley Lifetime Achievement Award~how gratifying for them to be acknowledged in such a manner, and at the famous Rainbow Room no less!  Alexa Hampton was enlisted as a dinner chairman, and surely if any two design professionals deserve such accolades, it would be Bunny and John.  Congratulations!  DF *****

Nancy, Bunny, and John, Decorating World

Bunny Williams, aka Mrs. John Rosselli, sent this lovely picture of lamps she is coming out with- and I was again reminded of Nancy Lancaster, who was first Mrs. Field, then Mrs. Tree, and finally Mrs. Lancaster.

Nancy Lancaster's mother was a Langhorne, and I went to school with another nice girl from Virginia, Cary Langhorne Bond. Bunny, whose real name is Bruce Blackwell, is also from Charlottesville, and it almost seems as if one can draw a line comparing Mrs. Rosselli to Mrs. Lancaster, as they both have had important men named John in their lives, John Rosselli, the fabulous antiques dealer, and John Fowler, the important late English decorator and tastemaker, friend of Sister and Mario, and business partner of famous Sybil Colefax.

I found a table from Rosselli to place one of Bunny's new lamps on- it has "dolphin" legs. Love the bleached look, something dear Albert was very fond of. I also very much like these stunning decorative mirrors from Rosselli Antiques.

I very much admire the way Bunny Williams has built up her brand, through books, lectures, hard work, and product design. We should all be so brilliant and so successful! I have met her, years ago, when I was still living in Manhattan, and went to her office for a possible job, which unfortunately did not materialize for me. I very much enjoy following her BeeLine introductions, and wish her and John all the best as they continue their great work. Enjoy! DF *****
