One of my favorite designers of the past is David Hicks and I was able to see one of his shops when I was in London many years ago while he was still living- The one I saw in the West End had scarlet walls with touches of violet in the upholstery it was the most chic and stunning dramatic thing I had seen at that point in my life. So yesterday strangely I came across this pair of rock crystal mounted obelisk copies from Maitland Smith which I immediately purchased for my apartment since I'm leaning in an Empire direction- they make me happy and in researching the history of these objects I learned that they are of Egyptian origin- stunning classics, the shock of the old!
