I thought of featuring some of the more neoclassic buildings I've had the pleasure of knowing, since we just celebrated President's Day. The historic Beaumont Inn, located at Harrodsburg, Kentucky, was built in 1845, and became a girls school in 1855 (Greenville Institute) then segued into Daughters College, and finally Beaumont College, before becoming an Inn in 1919 under the ownership of Mr. and Mrs. Glave Goddard... The annex where we stayed, Goddard Hall, was built in 1935, and is a very charming smaller building. See http://www.beaumontinn.com/ for more history and information. The Inn is only 1/2 hour from Lexington, and is near the famous bourbon distilleries such as Maker's Mark and Woodford Reserve. Yesterday, I enjoyed a delicious lunch with a new client at the Mediterra Club, here in lovely Naples. The food and wine was superb, a Cupcake Chardonnay from California, with a salmon in cucumber envelope entree...yum. Built in a tasteful mock tuscan style, the entire community has won awards from environmental groups for nature preservation. "Naples Illustrated" featured the community in the April "09 issue in a feature called "Good Manors" about titled families residing in Naples...I found it very enlightening and enjoyed the article very much. Read it in full at http://www.naplesillustrated.com/ and see more of the clubs at Mediterra on their site http://www.mediterranaples.com/ Here are some images I chose to accompany this post. Enjoy !
