I've always loved the primrose as it was a motif used by John Fowler and Mario Buatta on the beautiful silk hand-painted George Oakes pillows and also in certain chintzes from Colefax and Fowler and Cowtan Tout... While I'm still not exactly certain what the difference between a Primrose and a sweet William is, I do know that the sweet William is a member of the dianthus family and I find it totally charming-! here are two examples of this very pretty biennial.
