Chateau de Menars

Brunschwig et Fils Menars fabric at the former Wrightsman house, Palm Beach, FL

Besides the old Rory Cameron villa, La Fiorentina, I've always admired the former house of Jayne Wrightsman, in PB, where this Brunschwig cotton print, called Menars ~ was used in a major way by Vincent Fourcade...

Click here to read about the Loire Valley chateau called Menars, which Madame de Pompadour acquired back in 1760.  Enjoy!  DF *****

  2. Andrea,
Maurice Fatio was the architect, and I think John Tackett of The Devoted Classicist has blogged about the house before, under Jayne Wrightsman. Or, Mona and Harrison Williams, who had it before the Wrightsmans. Too bad the house was razed- it was only until the early 1980's that preservation in Palm Beach became officially organized. Two weeks ago, when I was visiting the Hamptons, I found out that my hosts were friends with Stephanie Wrightsman, one of the granddaughters of Jayne. Small world!

PS there is also a great book about Fatio and his work, by designer Kim Mockler.
