Room of the Week, Grey Oaks

Dean Farris Interior Design

I designed this villa in Naples about seven years ago, and it still looks great. The clients have become good friends, and I have also done their entire house in Potomac, Maryland, as well as helping with her sons and sisters homes! I also decorated another villa in Grey Oaks this client owned prior to acquiring this larger one. This project has been published in several local lifestyle magazines. It's one of my favorites, hope you enjoy this glimpse of it! DF *****

Happy Mothers Day!

Today is Sunday, and I thought to share some more images from my recent trips around the neighborhood. Enjoy the day! DF ***** If you're a mother, or have a mother, enjoy this celebration of all things mothers do for us. Lucky me, I still have my lovely mother...XXOO

Flora and Fauna

Lantana, a flower I remember fondly from my childhood, due to the delightful spicy scent...this color is known as "ham and eggs", all pinks peaches and yellows, very charming!

Gardenias are everywhere!

Hibiscus and bougainvilla blooming outside my windows

The Pug Villa, Naples

Naples is chock full of beautiful flowers, flowering trees, shrubs, and landscaping... on my morning ride, I caught these lovely images for DFS, and was also invited to a Derby party by the building manager...looking forward to a great weekend! Here too, is a better pic of the infamous Pug Villa, a house up the street from my new home, on GSBN. DF *****

Tequila Sunsets

It's great having the positive energy coming from the water, and living just across from the beach, I caught these amazing shots of the sunset, watching it is a Naples tradition, and people from the neighborhood come and bring their cocktails and watch the sun make its peaceful and elegant descent into the horizon...enjoy these shots! I also took two more of my new apartment, which I really like due to its overwhelming sense of simplicity, reminding me of Albert's cottage on 11th Avenue South, as well as my old place on 14th Avenue South, further down in Old Naples... Using What You Have, Part Deux

I hung the Warhol cow print over the tufted settee, will probably flank it with a pair of gilt brackets

This table and pair chairs is on loan from dear Mary

It's great fun to see how things look in a different setting, and here, you can see my new dining area, (part of the living room) the living room, and the sunroom entry... this is just days after moving in, so, I still have a lot of work to do, but I enjoy it, so it's not really so bad. Enjoy! DF *****

Using What You Have

Love my books!

I already owned these pieces, and enjoyed arranging them into this interesting and very personal melange. Many of the items were gifts. After a long day of unpacking, I enjoyed an absinthe cocktail on ice! DF *****

The Pug Villa

I'll get a better shot next time out...

A pretty view is like a melody...

I still remember arriving here in Naples in 1996, and driving along Gulf Shore Boulevard, and admiring the landscaping and the beautiful homes...it was so quiet you could hear pine needles dropping. One such elegant waterfront property is the Pug Villa, now on the market...what a charming name to give a holiday house! I felt a connection with the house, as it sits looking quite abandoned in a very romantic way. I also took this snap this morning, of the bay view from my sunroom...am crazy for the glitter of the sun on the water, as in the title of my first novel "Diamonds In The Sun" (Authorhouse) available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It is the story of a decorator, who dreams big, and what happens when her dreams come true! Enjoy the day! Dean *****

OK, So, it may be a condo by the sea...and the sea is the gulf of Mexico...and I'm on the bay side, not the beach side, but so what, and who cares? Not me! I absolutely love this new location, and just came back from a morning bike ride. The breezes are making the palms sway, and it's a lovely morning in Naples. I can really buff up on my photography skills now, and look forward to sharing my shots with you, dear readers. I just moved in on Friday, so please pardon the appearance of my room shots, as I have a ton of boxes to either store or unpack, all in good time, since Summer is coming soon. Have a happy May first, and a great day, wherever you (may) find yourself. DF*****
